A Bit About Richard

Richard grew up in Larchmont, NY where he started playing the trombone in the
Mamaroneck Public Schools. He then pursued his studies at the Hartt School of Music,
at the University of Hartford, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Performance.
He then went onto the Manhattan School of Music where he earned his Masters degrees
in Performance and Music Education. He then began his career as a band director on a
per diem and interim basis in several school districts in Westchester County as well as
giving private lessons to brass players in Westchester County where he has his students
audition for the All-County band.

At this same time, Richard has also been involved with three performance groups.
The Westchester Symphonic Winds (www.westchestersymphonicwinds.org) since 1989
and has been its Principal Trombonist since 2005. The Dixie Dandies, since 1983, a dixieland brass
group which plays at various functions and marches in holiday and fireman’s parades
throughout the lower half of New York State. And the Brass Onion Quintet. A brass group
which is in residence at the Larchmont Avenue Presbyterian Church(www.lacny.org) in
Larchmont, NY since 2009.
